Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone star in this macabre western about serial murders among the Osage tribe in 1920s Oklahoma, which reflects the erasure of Native Americans from the US.

Based on the best-selling nonfiction book of the same name by “The Lost City of Z” author  David Grann, the film is set on the Osage reservation in 1920s Oklahoma – the decade of the Tulsa massacre. Recently discovered oil deposits enrich the settlement, making the Osage the wealthiest people in the world per capita, but “many, so many hungry wolves” soon follow. Chief amongst them are corrupt cattleman William Hale (Robert De Niro) and his nephew, Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio), the latter of whom infiltrates the community by marrying a prominent local (Lily Gladstone). The uncle-nephew duo plots a violent takeover of the Osage Nation’s newfound wealth.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” marks Scorsese's first narrative feature since the 2019 film “The Irishman.” The Apple Original film has set its wide theatrical release for October 20 and will stream on Apple TV+.
